Account

How do I complete my profile?+

Go to the Profile section and fill in your traits across all groups: About Me, Personality, Values, Lifestyle, and more. The more traits you fill in, the better your compatibility scores will be. Completing your profile to 100% also unlocks a daily match boost.

Can I change my display name?+

Yes. Go to Profile > Edit and update the Name field. Your name is visible to your matches and on your public profile.

How do I change my password?+

Go to Account > Security and use the Change Password section. You will need to enter your current password and confirm the new one. If you forgot your password, use the Forgot Password link on the sign-in page.

How do I upload or change my profile photos?+

Go to Profile > Edit and scroll to the Photos section. You can add up to 6 photos. Tap any photo to set it as your profile picture. We recommend uploading clear, well-lit photos that show your face.

Can I use Alchem in multiple languages?+

Yes. Alchem supports English and Spanish. You can change the app language from the sidebar language selector. Your profile traits that require free text (like biography and occupation) can be filled in per language so they display correctly to users in different regions.

Matching

How does Alchem matching work?+

Alchem analyzes over 80 profile traits across values, personality, lifestyle, and preferences to generate a compatibility score between you and other users. Each day you receive a curated set of suggestions ranked by highest compatibility. Quality is prioritized over quantity.

How many suggestions do I get per day?+

By default you receive 2 new suggestions per day. Completing your profile to 100% grants you an additional daily suggestion. You can also purchase extra suggestions using credits from the Shop.

What happens if I do not act on a suggestion?+

Suggestions expire after inactivity: 3 days if no messages have been exchanged, 7 days if a conversation has started. Once expired, that profile may reappear in future suggestions if your compatibility remains high.

What is the compatibility score?+

The compatibility score is a percentage (0–100%) that represents how well your profile traits align with another user's traits. Traits like values, relationship goals, and lifestyle preferences carry more weight than optional details. The more you complete your profile, the more accurate the score.

Why am I not receiving new suggestions?+

This can happen if your profile is incomplete, if your privacy setting Show Profile is off, if you have already used today's daily suggestions, or if there are no compatible users available in your area. Try completing more profile sections and check your privacy settings in Account.

Privacy

Can I hide my profile?+

Yes. Go to Account > Privacy and toggle Show Profile off. When hidden, you will not appear in other users' daily suggestions. You can still use the app and chat with existing matches.

Is my personal data secure?+

Yes. All data is encrypted in transit and at rest. Your personal information is never sold to third parties. You can delete your account and all associated data at any time from Account > Danger Zone.

Who can see my profile?+

Only users who receive you as a daily suggestion can see your full profile. You can also control whether your age, location, and last seen time are visible from Account > Privacy.

Can I control what information is shown on my profile?+

Yes. From Account > Privacy you can individually toggle visibility for your age, exact location, and last seen status. Profile traits you leave empty are simply not shown to other users.

Payments

How do credits work?+

Credits are Alchem's in-app currency. You purchase credit packs from the Shop. Credits are spent to unlock premium features such as extra daily suggestions, profile boosts, rewinds, Speed Chat events, and more. Your credit balance is always visible in the Shop.

What can I buy with credits?+

With credits you can purchase: extra daily suggestions (+5 for 50 credits), a profile rewind (25 credits), weekly profile boost (150 credits), monthly profile boost (400 credits), and Speed Chat event access (200 credits). Prices may vary — always check the Shop for the current catalog.

Are refunds available?+

We offer refunds within 7 days of purchase if you have not used any premium features from that purchase. Contact our support team to request a refund. Refunds are not available for consumed credits or active boosts.

How do I cancel my subscription?+

Go to Account > Billing and select Cancel Subscription. Your benefits continue until the end of the current billing period. Credit packs are one-time purchases and do not auto-renew.

Which payment methods are accepted?+

Alchem accepts credit and debit cards via Stripe, and local payment methods depending on your region (MercadoPago for LATAM, PayPhone for Ecuador). All transactions are processed securely through our payment partners.

Features

What are Alchem Stories?+

Stories are short-lived posts (photos or videos) visible to nearby users. They appear on the Explore map for a limited time. You can add AR filters to your stories. Stories are a way to show a spontaneous, real-time side of yourself to people in your area.

What is Speed Chat?+

Speed Chat (Alchem Live) is a real-time text-based speed dating event. You are matched with compatible users for short timed conversations. At the end, both parties can choose to reveal their profiles and connect. Events have a limited number of spots and may require credits to join.

What is a Match Boost?+

A Match Boost temporarily increases the visibility of your profile in other users' daily suggestions. During an active boost, your profile is shown more frequently and ranked higher in compatible users' queues. Weekly and monthly boost options are available in the Shop.

How do I connect Spotify to my profile?+

Go to Profile > Edit > Social Connections and tap Connect Spotify. You will be redirected to Spotify to authorize the connection. Once connected, your top artists will appear on your profile, giving matches a glimpse into your music taste.

Safety

What should I do if someone is being inappropriate?+

Use the Report button on their profile or inside the chat (tap the menu icon). Select the reason that best describes the issue. Our moderation team reviews all reports within 24 hours. You can also block the user to prevent further contact.

How do I block a user?+

Open the user's profile or chat, tap the menu (three dots), and select Block. Blocked users can no longer send you messages and will not appear in your suggestions. You can manage your blocked users from Account > Blocks & Reports.

What happens after I report a user?+

Our moderation team reviews all reports within 24 hours. If the reported behavior violates our community guidelines, the user may receive a warning, a temporary suspension, or a permanent ban depending on the severity. Repeat violations always result in a permanent ban. You will not be notified of the outcome to protect user privacy.

How do I stay safe while chatting?+

Never share personal information like your full name, home address, phone number, or financial details in chat. If a match pressures you for personal information or money, report them immediately. Always meet in public places for first dates and let a trusted person know where you are going.

Technical

The app is not loading, what should I do?+

First, check your internet connection. Try refreshing the page or clearing your browser cache. If the problem persists, try signing out and signing back in. If you continue to experience issues, contact our support team with details about your device and browser.

I am not receiving push notifications+

Go to Account > Notifications and make sure Browser Notifications is enabled. You will be prompted to grant notification permission in your browser. Also verify that your device or browser is not in Do Not Disturb mode. You can choose which notification types (matches, messages, promotions) to receive.

How do I delete my account?+

Go to Account > Danger Zone and tap Delete Account. You will be asked to confirm your password. Account deletion is permanent — all your data, matches, messages, and credits will be removed and cannot be recovered.
